< Jamesie landed the biggest success of his career when he gained a narrow verdict in a thrilling climax to the Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh.

Winner of a good handicap in Dubai at the beginning of the year, the David Marnane-trained six-year-old had run some gallant races in defeat since his return home and was sent off an 8-1 chance for the Group Three contest.

Colm O'Donoghue drove him up to challenge Hamza a furlong and a half out but a big danger quickly arrived in the shape of Gordon Lord Byron and Jamesie appeared to lose the lead before fighting back to score by a nose.< Ainippe displayed a sparkling turn of foot to take her record to two from two in the Irish Field Curragh Stakes and Ger Lyons' filly could be heading for the Cheveley Park Stakes.

The 2-1 shot was always prominent under Colin Keane and went clear a furlong out before readily holding favourite The Great War by a length to take the Listed prize.

Aidan O'Brien's newcomer Found (14-1) overturned stablemate and favourite Together Forever to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden impressively, arriving late on the scene under Seamie Heffernan and easing ahead by three-quarters of a length.

A Ballydoyle hotpot suffered defeat in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden when the odds-on General Marshall hit trouble in running as Joe Murphy's debutant Shepherd's Purse (20-1) cut down the leaders and raced two and a half lengths clear under Gary Carroll.

Mick Halford's Galway Festival winner Hasanour (7-2 favourite) defied a ratings hike with a ready victory in the Gay And Kathleen Byrne Celebrating 50 Years Of Marriage Handicap, forging clear under Shane Foley to score by two and a half lengths.

Robbie Downey came with a well-timed run to take the Fleetwood Paints Apprentice Handicap on Eddie Lynam's Doc Holliday (12-1), while Pat Smullen led all the way on Sabrina Harty's Breathe Easy (7-2) in the Irish Champions Weekend 13th & 14th September Handicap.
