< Gleneagles gave his supporters a scare before completing a Classic double in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.
Sent off the 2-5 favourite after winning the Newmarket equivalent, the Aidan O'Brien-trained colt didn't have the best of passages on the rail and Ryan Moore had to ask him to quicken into the race from what looked an unpromising position.
But the Ballydoyle hotpot responded in game style and his class was evident as he cut down the long-time leader Ivawood and got the better of Endless Drama to win by three-quarters of a length and half a length, with the latter second.

Pat Smullen produced the Dermot Weld-trained four-year-old to tackle leader Majestic Queen a furlong out in the Group Two contest and the 4-1 chance asserted before holding Maarek by a length, with Sole Power never a threat in finishing sixth.
Smullen and Weld picked up the other Group Two race on the card when the unbeaten Brooch (8-11 favourite) took the Lanwades Stud Stakes, tackling Ramone as soon as that one hit the front a furlong out and asserting for a tidy score by two and a quarter lengths.
Jim Bolger's 15-8 joint-favourite Round Two put in an impressive display in the Listed Cold Move EBF Marble Hill Stakes, pulling clear along with Washington DC from the furlong pole and dismissing his market rival by two lengths under Kevin Manning.
Ger Lyons' once-raced juvenile Miss Katie Mae (5-1) put her experience to good use in the Killashee EBF Fillies Maiden as she led a quarter of a mile out under Colin Keane and ran on strongly to score by a length and three-quarters.
Mick Halford landed a nice pot when Hasanour (13-2) readily won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Habitat' Handicap under Shane Foley, while Richard Hughes arrived late to grab the Hanlon Concrete Handicap on Johnny Murtagh's Duca Valentinois (8-1).
