Review dundalk 7th Dec

< Landikusic got off the mark at the fifth time of asking in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Maiden at Dundalk on Wednesday evening.

A 700,000-guineas purchase at Tattersalls in October 2014, the full-sister to juvenile Group One winner Zoffany had been knocking on the door since making her all-weather bow at the beginning of last month and was nothing if not gutsy.

Jim Bolger's 11-4 second favourite cruised past pace-setter Sharp Operator when the field turned for home and had to dig deep inside the final furlong under Kevin Manning to hold the late challenge of Ellaria by a fast-diminishing head.< Yulong Xiongyin created a good impression on his racecourse debut in the Winter Series At Dundalk 2017 Maiden.

The 4-1 second favourite was purchased at Royal Ascot breeze-up sales earlier this year and Mick Halford's chestnut made all under Shane Foley to beat the well-fancied Thomas O'Malley by a length.

Trainer Tom Hogan and jockey Conor Hoban were on the score sheet courtesy of Honor Oak (5-2 favourite) in division one the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap.

The striking grey wasn't winning out of turn having finished a close-up second behind the in-form Super Focus last month and after travelling stylishly into contention the four-year-old filly stuck on well to deny Coach Bombay by one-and-a-half lengths.

The aforementioned Super Focus was bidding for a hat-trick in division two but could only manage third.

It was 8-1 chance Carrigeen Prince under a good ride from Donagh O'Connor that landed the spoils, with Garvan Donnelly's charge sticking to the inside when they turned into the straight before staying on best for a one-and-a-quarter-length success at the expense of Paved With Gold

His stable companion Lily's Prince (11-2), ridden by Colin Keane, completed a double for Donnelly in division two of the Dundalk Stadium & ndash; Light Up Your Night Handicap, while it was Secret Path (8-1), trained by Patrick Martin and ridden by 3lb claimer Gary Halpin, who struck in division one.
