Barry Geraghty gave Whatsforuwontgobyu a confident ride to claim the Irish Daily Star Christmas Novice Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown.

The Tony Martin-trained gelding travelled sweetly into contention going to the last in the two-miler.

JP McManus' charge quickened up well on the run-in to post a length-and-three-quarter success over the staying on Mighty Concorde

“The ground suited and everything went well,” said Martin.

“Barry Geraghty was a big help in that ground. He gave him every chance, took his time and he came back on the bridle.

“We'll tip away quietly with him. I'll get him home first and then see where he goes.

“He's big enough so will jump a fence in time and I'd say he can mix it.”
