The Darren Bunyan trained Low Latency got off the mark on his fourth career start, as he took the third at Fairyhouse, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
A good third on debut when well-supported last September, the son of Exceed And Excel then finished ninth of nine when tried in Listed company at Dundalk.
He could only manage fifth when sent off favourite on his seasonal reappearance at Navan last month, and fitted with a tonguestrap for the first time today he was backed from 8s to 6s on-course.
Settled in second by Leigh Roche, the bay victor was ridden to lead a furlong and a half from home, and he kept on well from there, going on to score by a comfortable two and three parts of a length in the colours of the Maythehorsebewithyou Syndicate. Bay Of Skaill (6/1) finished second under Gary Carroll for Joe Murphy, while Shinko Princess (10s to 7s) was a neck back in third, with Niall McCullagh in the saddle for Christy Donoghue.
The Eddie Lynam trained Dreaming Of Gold was sent off the 3/1 favourite. She lost ground shortly after the start, and eventually finished sixth under Wayne Lordan.
The winning trainer said afterwards: "I don't think I've ever had one as unlucky as him in his first three runs with different things going wrong.
"Leigh gave him a super ride and that was more like what we see at home. His homework is easily Group 3 level. He'll probably go now for the Belgrave Stakes at the Curragh (July 1st)."
