Melly And Me was played late by Jonathan Moore to land the two mile six auction maiden hurdle in Limerick.

With plenty of placed form to his name he was sent off the 5/4 favourite. Life Isfor Living landed a length in front over the second last and still held the initiative over the last as Wild Rumour and Melly And Me tried to challenge.

Melly And Me landed full of running, however, and stormed home in the closing stages to win by a length and a quarter for Noel Meade.

Jonathan Moore said: "It was a brave move by Noel to run him two days after Down Royal but I suppose it was an opportunity to get him off the mark and thankfully he did.

"He stays well and is a funny character and picked up well today.

"He is a character, that's one thing for sure, but the lads in the yard have settled him great and he is a nice horse."
