Goose Man (9/2-11/2-7/2 favourite) took advantage of a mark over flights, 30Ibs below his chase perch, to edge things by a neck in the Free Racecourse Wifi Now At Navan Handicap Hurdle.

Trained by Tom Taaffe for Fitri Hay, Goose Man was amazingly a third winner in four races at Proudstown Park today for deceased stallion Gold Well, following on from Galvin in the first and Agusta Gold in the feature. Bothar Dubh (9/1-10/1-6/1) made Goose Man work for it, but Andrew Lynch always looked happy that he'd prevail on the Taaffe runner, which he eventually did, with four and a half lengths back to Load Up Time (10s into 17/2) in third.

“He’s not going to get into the Thyestes on Thursday so I’d really nowhere else to run him. I loved the way he jumped — he jumped like a hurdler and we know he can jump fences. All the options are open now," stated Taaffe.

“Chasing is really what we want to do with him. I was happy with his first run this season here and I thought he had a chance in the Paddy Power but he just over-jumped the first and landed on top of another horse.

“I’m thrilled with the way he’s travelled there today, and hopefully we can find a good race for him.

“He was bought to be a National horse some day and that dream is still alive.”

D.G. Hogan, rider of Lady Writer trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount checked off heels before the turn into the straight.
