Penny Out (5/2) stretched clear after the last under Mikey Hamill to win the 20-runner Ladbrokes Mares Maiden Hurdle.

John Kiely's five-year-old mare put five and a half lengths on the runner-up Patriciadplasterer who made good late headway to come through for second at 16/1, ahead of City Ballerina (7/2). Fulysse the well backed 2/1 favourite, weakened out of contention to finish sixth.

Mikey Hamill said: “I was based in the UK for about seven years. I was in Kim Bailey’s for four of those years and he helped me along a lot of the way.

"I rode my claim down there from 10lb to 3lb and I have eight winners left now at 3lb.

“I just got sick of the driving and thought I’d give Ireland one chance and see what happens.

"I’m back now about three weeks and am riding out for John Kiely, Henry de Bromhead, Shark Hanlon and Shay Barry.”
