Trumps Ace gained her first success 'under rules' when claiming the handicap chase on the card at Clonmel this afternoon.

The Tim Doyle-trained mare, a third winner on the day for sire Flemensfirth, came with a strong run to lead at the second last under Ryan Treacy.

Despite getting underneath that fence the 14/1 shot galloped on strongly and was big and bold at the last to post a hard fought length-and-three-quarter success over Kavanaghs Corner

Trumps Ace had won a point-to-point back in March. She had been well held in a novice handicap chase on her return at Naas last month.

Treacy said afterwards:- "I rode this horse at Naas the last day when she missed the first fence and it cost me a bit.

"It was her first run back and Tim was very hopeful for today. He had the horse in great order and she jumped well and did it well."
