Hightimeyouwon stuck on gamely to land the spoils in a tight finish to the six-furlong colts and geldings maiden at Naas this afternoon.

Five horses entered the final furlong with every chance but it was the Dermot Weld-trained gelding who edged ahead in the closing stages.

Oisin Orr got a good tune from the son of Garswood, a half-brother to Ayr Gold Cup winner Son Of Rest, as he held the late charge of Papa Bear by a head.

The 3/1 favourite had been placed on three occasions last season and was making his seasonal debut today.

Kris Weld, the trainer's son and assistant, said afterwards “He’d some good runs last year and deserved that.

“He’s a big horse and is beginning to fit into his frame now. I’d be hoping there is more to come.

“We’ll probably look for a handicap next and maybe something on Oaks weekend.

“The six up the hill today was ideal but another furlong would be no problem to him.”

Oisin Orr was completing a double on the card following the earlier victory of Son And Sannie
