Cathal Landers and Poseidon were the snug winners of the featured Grade B handicap hurdle at Killarney.

Landers was confident on board the 7/2 favourite who was produced to challenge at the second last.

He grabbed a narrow lead from Born By The Sea coming to the last and one flick of the whip on the run-in saw him go on by a length and a quarter.

Born By The Sea kept on in second at 5/1. The Mouse Doctor could make no impression on the front pair and came home three and a quarter lengths further back in third at 10/1.

Trainer Charles Byrnes said: "I'm delighted for the owner (Martin White) who has been a local supporter through thick and thin and it was a nice pot to win.

"He had a great run in Galway and that race looked a good race on the day, and he carried on from there.

"There is a similar race in Listowel over two miles and he loved today's ground.

"It has taken him a long time to find a decent level and overall he had been disappointing as he cost plenty in Newmarket. He'll jump a fence in time but the Listowel Hurdle will be the plan now."

Poseidon was god of storms, horses, the sea and earthquakes.
