Mikey Sheehy replaced Adam Farragher on Let Me Pass in the first split of the DundalkStadium.com Median Auction Maiden and on start six the son of Raven’s Pass made the breakthrough.

With odds-on favourite Offiah (seventh) failing by some way to come up to expectations, it was joint second market choice Let Me Pass (13/2 into 5/1) that came to the fore.

He beat his fellow 5/1 shot My Minervina by a length and three parts, with the pair five and a half lengths clear of the slow-starting third, Dunmain Power

“He had some decent runs and he seemed to be handling the dig in the ground well so I wasn't certain about him going on the surface,” said winning trainer Michael Halford.

“He was in such good form we said we'd give him a try on it and he handled it really well.

“I thought he would need the 7lb off him. Adam was to ride him but unfortunately got a bad dose of the flu so he missed out but Mikey did very well on him. He kept it simple and did well from his wide draw to get a good position on him.

“I'm delighted for the owner (Nasir Askar) who has been patient with his horses.

“He might keep on the go here as he's in great form and handled that really well. We'll see what he's like when we get him home.”

C.T. Keane, rider of Offiah trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount acted up in the stalls.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Offiah, trained by G.M.Lyons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
