Division one of the Virtual Live Racing Handicap Hurdle at Downpatrick was delayed by over six minutes after one of the runners got loose, prior to a false start pre-race. It was worth the wait for those that backed winner Massons Castle in from 14/1 into 11/1.

Dropping in trip after a towards the rear finish on handicap debut at this venue 23 days ago, Massons Castle built on earlier promise in the hands of Adam Short.

Dermot McLoughlin ’s charge went about his business well on the run-in to beat Getgo by seven lengths.

"He had a very good run in Fairyhouse the first day. He had a good run in Kilbeggan and wasn't beaten far at all. His jumping was a bit sloppy in Kilbeggan. Here the last day he ran over two five and probably didn't get home,” said Short.

"Coming back to two one with that experience under his belt, I thought he had a little squeak.

"I think so (a bit of improvement to come) and I think he is still a bit of a baby. I think with that experience and a bit more miles on the clock, even a bit of a break, I think he could be a nice horse going forward."
