Bumper and UK point-to-point winner Indigo Breeze (11/4jf) got off the mark over hurdles at Gowran today, landing the Noreside Catering Irish EBF Maiden Hurdle for trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Davy Russell.

Eventual runner-up Deploy The Getaway was clear approaching the final flight but erred at the obstacle, allowing Indigo Breeze to close the deficit and edge ahead on the run-in, eventually scoring by a length and three parts.

Afterwards winning trainer Elliott stated “he's a nice horse. We've been trying to slow him down at home because he's a bit hard on himself and keen.

“He'll come on from that and he wants two-and-a-half miles. We'll try and find something small again for him.”
