Traffic survives blunder to score

Traffic Article survived a couple of scares to make all in the Martin Reilly Motors Chase at Sligo.

Ruby Walsh popped his mount out in front in the two-and-a-half mile contest and he jumped well until getting the fifth last all wrong.

The 8/11 favourite soon recovered his composure but was made to work hard in the closing stages by Kakagh

That rival threw down a strong challenge at the second last and Walsh had to get serious with his mount.

He just had the edge at the final fence and overcame a slight stumble on landing to fight off the attentions of the runner-up by half a length.

"Ruby said he hated being out in front," reported Elliott afterwards.

"It was a nice pot and well worth coming for. He might go to Cheltenham in October now for a novice chase.

"He'll get a bit of experience over there and might be a four-miler in time as he stays very well."
