Quick brace for Walsh

Ruby Walsh completed a quick double when giving Give Us A Hand a power-packed ride to claim the Frank O'Beirne Memorial Beginners Chase at Sligo.

John Berry's charge came under pressure after the third last but was driven into the lead at the penultimate fence.

The 7/4 favourite asserted before the last and stayed on strongly to score by 15-lengths from Galloping Gander.

The winner (backed from 3/1 in the morning) was not scoring out of turn, having been placed on his last two starts over fences.

"He wants a trip and goes on any ground. He might run again at Gowran on Saturday," said Berry afterwards.

A big crowd descended on the Cleveragh track this afternoon, including 800 students from Sligo IT and St Angelas College in Clogherevagh.
