County Cork restricted licence holder Joe Hennessy saddled his first winner under Rules since May 2006 when the home-bred half-brother to Bob Lingo, Talk The Lingo made all under Barry Cash in the Four Roads Maiden Hurdle at Roscommon.

The ill-fated Bob Lingo (by Bob's Return) of course landed the Galway Plate in 2012 but his four-year younger Revoque-sired brother came here still in search of his first win at the age of eight.

Cash kicked on aboard the 14/1 shot from before the straight. Further fluent jumping by Talk The Lingo over the last three hurdles enabled him to convincingly beat the 4/9 favourite Killer Crow (his hurdling let him down on his debut in the sphere) by six lengths.

Hennessy, a Castlemartyr-based dairy farmer said: "He has had a lot of problems but we kept the faith.

"He will hardly emulate his brother, Bob Lingo, but he might win a few chases in time. He had ability as a five-year-old but he had setbacks then.

"He likes good ground and we'll see what the handicapper will do. He might go for a novice hurdle but we'll see. Barry said he could have done with a better gallop.

"He is the only horse we have in training at the minute." (DM & EM)
