FormscanBy Michael Graham - POPONG is given slight preference over Bacardys but Kieran Callaghan's 7lb claim on the latter certainly makes it an interesting race. Popong is a consistent sort over fences and arrives here on the back of runner-up berths in both the Connacht National at Roscommon and Midlands National in Kilbeggan. She will relish this ground. Bacardys is best in at the weights due to Callaghan's claim. He was well behind Popong in ninth at Kilbeggan but, prior to that, enjoyed himself in a smaller field when winning a beginners' chase at Clonmel. He was classy over hurdles and should be a tough opponent. The Little Yank is unexposed over fences and didn't run badly when a somewhat remote fourth in a Grade B handicap hurdle at the Galway Festival after being hampered at the third last.
