FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Maybe the surface could be on the lively side for him but the inclination is still to row in behind HALF SHOT. Sole Pretender recently did County Galway-based handler Norman Lee proud, with a great performance at Cork on Easter Sunday. His horses have in general been performing up to scratch, and Half Shot was looking another winner for him until mown down in the final strides by Princely Conn at Clonmel on March 23rd. Eventually beaten half a length then, Half Shot had traded in running at a low of 1.08, after being well-backed pre-race. He’s a well-related sort that’s already won a point-to-point, and a track win shouldn’t be long in coming his way. The near two and three quarter mile trip looks a good fit for the Yeats gelding. No Thanks is one of the more obvious alternatives as he starts out over the larger obstacles.
