FormscanBy Gary Carson - A couple of nicely bred newcomers here but it may pay to side with ALMANERA who could be open to improvement on his second official start. The Almanzor colt won a barrier trial here back in June and wasn't disgraced on his debut at the Curragh the following month when eighth in a strong maiden won by John The Baptist. He was beaten less than four lengths that day and after a little break he could find improvement now. Obviously Newfoundland is an intriguing newcomer as he is a full-brother to dual Oaks winner Snowfall. The fact that he is so late in appearing and holds no classic entries is a slight concern. Ger Lyons saddles Juddmonte colt Trent and he is another that has to be noted. The son of Kantharos is out a half-sister to dual Guineas winner Special Duty. Domestic Goddess stayed on well enough after missing the kick here last time and is another that has to come into calculations.
