FormscanBy Alan Magee - MONKFISH was one of the leading staying novice hurdlers last season and now makes his eagerly awaited switch to fences. The Stowaway gelding was bought for a sizeable sum by present connections after winning a four-year-old point-to-point and scaled the heights over hurdles last season when showing good battling qualities to land the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Sams Profile is a worthy opponent. He beat Diol Ker in a Cragmore maiden (Monkfish pulled up) and was a smart novice over hurdles when runner-up twice in Grade 1 company. The Mouse Morris-trained gelding missed last season through injury but was jumping well on his reappearance until tipping up at the third last in Thurles. Diol Ker needs to improve his jumping while Ontheropes and Escaria Ten are other interesting rivals.
