FormscanBy Tom Weekes - SOARING MONARCH is a hopeful choice in an open looking race. SOARING MONARCH was well held on his debut run at Leopardstown in June but the form has worked out very well (the principals subsequently placed in the Irish Derby) and SOARING MONARCH then himself caused a 50/1 surprise when winning over 7f (6f, 150yds) at Limerick. The step back up to a mile could suit him ideally and he is open to plenty improvement. Collaborating did well to win on debut at Gowran 25 days ago and while he should progress from that run, faces a much stiffer task from 9st8lbs today. Fame And Acclaim is a maiden but is very much proven from his rating (he finished 1L ahead of Estepona Sun at Gowran in June) and should go well at a suitable trip while Layfayette was second in a valuable Sales Final at Naas last October and could strip a little fitter for his reappearance outing.
