FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Though the going was still described as good, the rain probably arrived at the wrong time for CRIMSON CHIEF at Tramore in August. He’s since won a Downpatrick handicap hurdle and he can show that Tramore festival handicap chase performance to be all wrong. The Arcadio gelding definitely enjoys the ground ‘on top,’ and he’s very likely to have his conditions here. There’s no reason to think that he’ll do anything other than enjoy the big track at Navan, and two and a half miles should be a good trip for the former point-to-point scorer. Benefit Run and Whatsinthecorner are others for the short-list.
An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lbs)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 10lbs and the minimum weight is 9st 12lbs
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
