A bit of racing history as Cousin Vinny became the first horse to complete the big Cheltenham/Punchestown bumper double as the Willie Mullins-trained gelding remained unbeaten in some style.

Teenager Patrick Mullins did well to keep pole position on the rail approaching the straight as his mount, Endless Intrigue and Corskeagh Royale quickly drew clear. However what seemed at the time a vital moment was rendered academic as the son of Bob Back stretched clear in the final furlong for a very impressive success.

Endless Intrigue was tasting defeat for the first time but, like the winner, remains a quality hurdling prospect for next season, while Academy Sir Harry stayed on well after hitting a flat spot on the home turn to take third. Corskeagh Royale held every chance entering the straight but could find no extra as the winner quickened.

Total Excitement made up good ground to challenge for the placings approaching the final furlong but then flattened out, while Dayia was virtually last inside the final half mile. She made a little progress on the outer before the straight and came home really well in the closing stages to finish on the heels of the placed horses.
