R. Walsh, rider of Loyalty Card, trained by Augustine Leahy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung right. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Loyalty Card, trained by Augustine Leahy, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Vintage Supreme, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10 3.(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his previous record, the Stewards suspended him for one race day.

An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (116 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won. Any horse rated above 116 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 116 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 116 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
