After jumping the final hurdle, Sometimes Always (IRE), placed second, drifted left-handed away from the whip before being quickly corrected by its rider, carrying the winner, College Oak (GB), off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Jack Tudor reported that Sometimes Always (IRE), placed second, hung left- handed under pressure.
Nick Gifford reported that Northern Poet (IRE), unplaced, was unsuited by the ground, which was officially described as Good to Soft, Good in places and in his opinion was riding slower than described, with the going subsequently changed to Good to Soft, Soft in places following the race.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Pianissimo (GB), placed eighth, lost its right-fore shoe.
