A query was raised to consider why Ronald Harris, was running Glamorous Force (GB) here at Bath on going described as Good having declared the gelding a non-runner at Chepstow on 15 June 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that the going at Chepstow was changed during racing from Good to Good to Soft which is why he declared Glamorous Force (GB) a non-runner as the gelding would prefer a faster surface.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, KNIGHTS GATE (IRE), A Go Go (GB), unplaced, ridden by Gina Mangan and Edge Of The Bay (GB), unplaced, ridden by Rhiain Ingram.
Bennett was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his horse to shift right-handed without timely correction which caused A Go Go (GB) to be checked in its run and move onto Edge Of The Bay (GB).
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, KNIGHT’S GATE (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Rod Millman was interviewed.
His comments that the gelding was suited by the strong pace in the race along with it being its first run in a handicap were noted and KNIGHT’S GATE (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Kieran O'Neill reported that Glamorous Force (GB), unplaced, lost its action; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Time 1m. 2.67 secs, which is 0.12 secs slower than the course average on today's going
