- Stewards Report
Pusey Street (GB), drawn 9, jumped sharply left-handed leaving the stalls, making contact with Hot Hot Hot (GB), drawn 8, and then giving Ness Ta Rah (GB), drawn 7, a significant bump, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of any horse.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to and after the line involving Big Time Maybe (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Grace McEntee, Swell Song (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Jonny Peate, and the winner, Gatwick Kitten (USA), ridden by Ray Dawson.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Peate was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
McEntee and Dawson were both cautioned for careless riding; McEntee for switching her mount right-handed with insufficiently clear, taking Swell Song (GB) marginally off its intended line, and Dawson for allowing his mount to drift left-handed at the same time initially causing Peate to have to take a check in between the two horses, and then continuing to drift left-handed causing McEntee to have to take a check after the line.
Following the race, Hector Crouch reported that Pusey Street (GB), unplaced, jumped left-handed, hung left- handed and was un-steerable.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Ness Ta Rah (GB), unplaced, had lost its right-hind shoe.
