Kieran O’Neill, the rider of The Cola Kid (GB), which finished ninth of 11 finishers, beaten by 7 ½ lengths, was interviewed regarding the riding of his mount, as it appeared that he rode less vigorously for a number of strides in the home straight.
O’Neill was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
He explained that in his opinion, he did not consider that he had ridden any less vigorously, his horse was plugging on at the one pace in the home straight and had stayed on past beaten horses.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, William Carson reported that Lothian (GB), placed seventh, hung right-handed, and David Probert reported that Come On Girl (GB), placed fourth, was slowly away.
Jason Hart reported that Rebel Redemption (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was unsuited by being unable to dominate on this occasion; the gelding was routine tested.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Araifjan (GB), placed third, had lost its left-fore shoe.
