An enquiry was held to consider a complaint by Fergal O'Brien, the trainer of Marquis Of Carabas (IRE), in connection with the handling and communication of the withdrawal of Marquis Of Carabas (IRE) on a Veterinary Certificate following a pre-race examination.
The trainer, the Veterinary Officer and a BHA Steward were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence, the matter was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Permission was given for Elan De Balme (FR) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only, go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
Mr William Featherstone, the rider of Fact Of The Matter (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 2 days, on dates to be notified to him by the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority, for using his whip above the permitted level from approaching the third-last fence.
Following the race, Mr Tristan Durrell reported that Madera Mist (IRE), unplaced, made a bad mistake at the second fence.
Miss Alice Stevens reported that First Class Return (IRE) jumped badly right- handed prior to refusing at the sixth fence.
Martin Keighley reported that Debden Bank (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, did not stay the 3 mile 1 furlong trip on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Len Brennan (IRE), placed fourth, lost its right-hind shoe.
