The Stewards enquired into circumstances surrounding the declaration of Niamh Crehan 7lb claimer to ride Estrenar, trained by Lady Jane Gillespie at 8 stone 5lbs despite her minimum riding weight being set at 8stone 3lb by the Chief Turf Club Medical Officer, Dr. Adrian McGoldrick, meaning that the rider was unable to claim her weight allowance. Evidence was heard from the rider and from Adrian McAllister, representative of the trainer. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards did not allow the overweight under the provisions of Rule 198(vii)(b), they cautioned the rider concerning her future responsibilities in this regard and ordered the rider to lease with Dr McGoldrick for a reassessment of her minimum riding weight. Furthermore the Stewards allowed K. Reidy to substitute Niamh Crehan, under the provisions of Rule 195(i). A.J. Breslin, rider of Hurricane Twister trained by V.Clifford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount bolted on the way to the start and lost its action in running.
