The Stewards requested a report from Michael Dods (in GB), trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Mecca's Angel, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge disappointed on her last start at Ascot but subsequently was showing signs of being in season. He added that today's slightly better ground helped his charge return to form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered. Edward Lynam, trainer of Sole Power (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge lost a shoe in running.
