Conor (Orr, winning jockey) gave him a clever ride and switching to the stands' side helped. The Stewards interviewed C.J. Orr, rider of Theatre World, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence C.J. Orr stated that he was trying to keep his mount going as it was a long run from the last fence and he was in a dual going to the line. He accepted that he had breached the whip guidelines and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that C.J. Orr was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned C.J. Orr on this occasion.

An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards (140 = 11st 10lbs)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 10lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each steeplechase won.
