Following the race, Fergus Gregory reported that Gardefort (FR), which was pulled up, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The Veterinary Officer further reported that a post-race examination of the winner, Barton Knoll (GB), during routine testing, revealed the gelding lost its left hind shoe.
