The Stewards enquired into an incident approaching the second last hurdle involving Summer Tide, ridden by D.J
McInerney and Hilltop Supreme, ridden by Miss R. Murphy, where it appeared that Summer Tide meet with interference and unseated the rider. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Miss R. Murphy, stated that her mount got tight for room causing her to be unseated and felt that the incident was accidental and unavoidable. D.J
McInerney, stated that his mount went left on the approach to the second last without warning which caused the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise D.J. McInerney to ride with more awareness in future
At the request of the Stewards, C.P. McNamara, rider of Donkey Years, trained by E. McNamara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a noise going up the back straight, at which point he gave him a chance and then he stayed on again in the straight
The Stewards requested a report from John Joseph Hanlon, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Teescomponentsyess, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Rachael O'Neill, Authorised representative for the trainer reported that the return to testing conditions at a track which Teescomponentsyess had previously won at, in her opinion is what brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (116 = 11st 12lbs) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 11st 12lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won. Riders - 1. Lady Riders who hold a Licence under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim an allowance under Rule 52 (iii) (up to and including 21st December) 2. Lady Riders who hold a Licence under National Hunt Rules to ride in hurdle races issued by any Recognised Turf Authority who have not ridden 60 winners or more (up to and including 21st December) 3. Lady Riders who hold a Category ''C'' Permit to ride under I.N.H.S. Rules 4. Lady Riders who hold a Permit to ride in hurdle races against Professional Riders issued by any other Recognised Turf Authority. The Stewards of the I.N.H.S. Committee have suspended the relevant parts of Rule 135 for the purposes of this race.
