A.E. Lynch, rider of Presenting Mahler trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not travel on today's ground. The Stewards received a report from Mr P. L. Malone, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that R.P. McNamara, rider of Truthwillsetufree, weighed in at 1.9 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he was unseated from his mount on his way to the start and had also received a lot of kickback in the latter stages of the race and felt a combination of both had caused the overweight. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered the circumstances, cautioned him in this regard for the future.
