The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving Evening Hush, ridden by S. Foley, placed second and Flying Fairies, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed fourth (dead heat), where it appeared that Flying Fairies caused interference when manoeuvering out to challenge. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by G.F. Carroll riding carelessly and consequently suspended him for 1 raceday having taken his good recent record into consideration. K.J. Condon, trainer of Evening Hush, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer prior to the running of this race that his charge was showing signs of coming in season. The Stewards granted permission for the sixth and seventh races to be started by flag start as it was not practical to transport the stalls to these starts without causing damage to the racetrack
