An enquiry was held into the conduct of Laura Richardson, the trainer of Billy Hicks (GB), who appeared to have encroached on the gelding, with its lead rein at the start.
Having heard her evidence, the Stewards found the trainer in breach and fined her £140.
An enquiry was held into the circumstances in which Chef D'equipe (FR) was pulled up by its rider, David Maxwell, having appeared to lose its action in the back straight, on the final circuit.
The rider was interviewed and a report from the Veterinary Officer was also heard.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and the horse was found to be sound.
The rider stated that the horse was keen in the early stages of the race and had made a noise in running, but in his opinion, he felt that this did not affect CHEF D’EQUIPE (FR)’s performance.
As the horse became tired towards the end of the race, Maxwell stated that he felt it prudent to pull up.
Being satisfied that the loss of action appeared to be brief and that Maxwell pulled his horse up in a timely fashion, the Stewards noted his explanation.
