An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run in involving the winner, Rapid Raider (IRE), ridden by Stephen Mulqueen and Lastofthecosmics (GB), placed second, ridden by Conor O’Farrell.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Rapid Raider (IRE) as Rapid Raider (IRE) was always holding Lastofthecosmics (GB), who lost less momentum than the winning margin of ¾ of a length.
Mulqueen was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had taken insufficient steps to correct his mount from drifting right.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination, during routine testing of Six One Nine (IRE), placed seventh, revealed the gelding to be lame on its right hind and further reported that Saint Jude (IRE), unplaced, bled from the nose.
