The Stewards noted that there was a loose dog on the track in the back straight on the first circuit.
Having received an explanation from the Clerk of the Course that the area is difficult to police due to it being on public land, combined with the fact that the dog did not endanger any horse or rider, no further action was taken.
The winner, Pookie Pekan (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 27 November 2021 where the gelding finished fifth of ten, beaten by 18 lengths.
Stuart Coltherd’s explanation that Pookie Pekan (IRE) benefited from being able to dominate on this occasion, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
