- Stewards Report
Permission was given for Amourice (IRE) to go early to post.
Top Power (FR) unseated its rider going down to the start.
Having been checked by the Doctor and the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, both were deemed to fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner Point In Time (IRE), ridden by David Probert interfered with Arabic Culture (USA), placed second, ridden by Jack Mitchell.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Point In TimeS (IRE)’s placing as Mitchell never had to stop riding and Arabic Culture (USA) appeared to lose minimal momentum as a result of the interference and Point In Time (IRE) was going away to win by a neck at the line.
Probert was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient and timely correction, intimidating Arabic Culture (USA) notably off its intended line.
An enquiry was held to consider the unruly behaviour of Amourice (IRE) which refused to canter down to the start and was withdrawn by the Stewards at 15:22.
The representative of Jane Chapple-Hyam was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
As the mare had also been unruly at Newmarket on 22 June 2019, the matter was referred to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, David Probert reported that the winner Point In Time (IRE), hung right-handed under pressure.
