The start of this race was reviewed in the presence of Harry Teal, the rider of Don Des Fosses (FR), placed fourth, Philip Donovan, the rider of Mrs Burbidge (GB), placed second, and the Starters.
Teal explained that his mount had whipped round as the start was affected, and Donovan further explained that having lined up directly behind Don Des Fosses (FR), Mrs Burbidge (GB) had been influenced by the horse in front and had also whipped round; both riders added that they had been happy with their positions prior to the horses’ unruly behaviour.
After hearing their explanations and viewing recordings of the start, the Stewards were satisfied that the correct procedures had been followed and took no further action.
