Permission was given for Driftwood (GB) to be mounted in the chute and to go early to post.
Driftwood (GB) unseated Jonathan Fisher when leaving the parade ring.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer and Doctor respectively, both were deemed fit to race.
The unruly behaviour of Driftwood (GB), which unseated the rider when leaving the Parade Ring and then planted for a considerable amount of time before being led part way to the start riderless, was considered.
As the filly had also planted and was led to post riderless at Southwell on 7 February 2021, Scott Dixon's representative was informed that any future similar behaviour from Driftwood (GB) may result in the horse being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Ugne Mickute, the rider of Mudawwan (IRE), drawn 1, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in her horse being slow to start.
Mickute’s explanation that due to having been loaded last into the stalls and the gelding having its head awkwardly positioned towards the adjoining stall, there had been insufficient time to untuck the blindfold from under the bridle and was therefore slow to remove the blindfold when the start was effected, was noted.
Upon leaving the stalls Ballycommon (IRE), placed third, jumped left-handed crowding One Last Hug (GB), placed second, which in turn inconvenienced the winner, Somewhere Secret (GB), but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
