Shortly after the start Aleef (IRE), placed third, edged slightly left-handed causing a free running Samovar (GB), placed sixth, to be steadied and switched across its heels, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Aleef (IRE).
Following the race, Rob Hornby reported that Aleef (IRE), placed third, became upset in the stalls and jumped awkwardly.
David Probert reported that Eye Of The Water (IRE), placed seventh, was slowly away.
Alistair Rawlinson reported that Young John (IRE), placed fifth, was never travelling.
