Permission was given for Nicholas T (GB) to go early to post and be mounted on the course and for Johnny Drama (IRE) to wear a hood in the parade ring.
Joshua Bryan, the rider of the winner, Johnny Drama (IRE), was suspended for 4 days for using his whip above the permitted level from inside 2 furlongs out.
Approaching the first bend, Lucander (IRE), unplaced, clipped the heels of WHAT’S THE STORY, unplaced, when running freely, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong, when Winter Reprise (FR), unplaced, ridden by Jason Watson interfered with Dawaam (USA), placed fourth, ridden by Jim Crowley.
Watson was cautioned for careless riding, as he had drifted right causing Crowley to check momentarily.
The performance of Bright Start (USA) was considered.
The representative of Saeed bin Suroor could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post- race examination, during routine testing of Bright Start (USA), failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Andrea Atzeni reported that Ascension (GB), unplaced, ran too freely and the Veterinary Officer reported that Astro King (IRE), unplaced, finished lame on its right hind.
