Lee Valley Legacy She kept going, enjoyed the ground, got a handy enough lead and kept picking up. She stays well, is tough and genuine, so that's half the battle. We'll see how she is now, freshen her up, and go again. She's consistent and tough so we'll keep trying with her. She had been running on real winter ground up to this but I'd say she appreciated that easier ground. She's not a big filly, she's small and compact but she'd hardy.

Dylrow Neither of my horses [also saddled 11th placed Marinero] would have liked that ground and I said beforehand if we could get into the first six or seven, we'd have run well. Everywhere you looked in the paddock there was quality. I told Jordan (Gainford) to put him to sleep early and to ride a race as it suits you, stay cool. His best weapon is his turn of foot and I told him to keep it up his sleeve for as long as possible. Jordan rode him brilliantly and is going to go a long way. He's a sort of horse that cods you a little bit, you think there's nothing left but there is when you go for him - he has that nice, lazy way as well as two-mile pace. He stays well too and his jumping was superb. He'd want nice ground. We'll take one day at a time but there are plenty of scalps taken today. A lot of the other horses have been to the well and looked good in open point-to-points but when they come back between the rails it can be different. My horse is just as happy here as in the point-to-point, but I never expected him to win.

Rightplacerightime That's a nice early Christmas present,. The form of his last race was very good, very solid. Poor Liam was laid up this morning at the last minute, Barry came in and rode a very nice race for me. It's a family we're very familiar with. He's one I bought and he's from Aine Dubh's family. We know how to train that family.

Kalanisi Og Thanks to the boys (Lions Mouth Racing Club) and to Paul (Townend) for letting me ride the mare; I know the owners quite well and a winner now is the same as a winner in April towards the Championship, so it was no harm to take it when the chance was there,. Her hurdling is still novicey but I think it will improve the faster she goes and today we were only hacking around. She seemed to handle that ground, it is deep but quite loose. I'd imagine we'll look for a mares' Listed hurdle next and we could look across the water and see what's over there. The turnout was disappointing but the idea behind the race is a good idea. There should be plenty of mares sold for less than E30,000 and I think when people saw that, it'll grow, and that is the point of it. I don't think it should be judged by its first or second running. Over time it will serve a very good purpose. Today was the first ride I've used this season against professionals (on non-family owned horses) and I have 20 of those rides left until the season ends in April/May.

Darver Star I'm not sure where we go after that, but he could potentially go to Cheltenham in November but we'll see how he comes out of that. He could go up to three miles but could also go back in trip as well. You'd have to stick to the novice route for the moment the way he is going. He had a bit of leg trouble before I got him and the owners were very patient with him, thankfully.

Russian Bill He likes soft ground and it slowed the rest of them down. He hasn't really showed us an awful lot over fences so it was nice to see him coming back and winning something. Even though he was favourite I didn't really think he'd win to be honest and I didn't think he had won even at the line!

Darver Star He was supposed to win on ratings and it was a good performance. I don’t know if he really enjoyed that ground but he got away with it. When he jumps a fence he might improve again, and there is a good chance he could go chasing this season.

Aasleagh Fawn She was crying out for that trip on that ground,. The last day in Down Royal it just went too soft for her. I'm delighted as Mick (Rowland) is local here and lived in Navan for years so it's great for him.

Kaletto she made a bad mistake at the second last but I always think she had it and was always cruising best of them. Mark was saying she was in serious form at home and I school her a bit during the week. She was out with a stone bruise at Sligo the last day but luckily today suited her.
