Minella Beau I thought Paul got two fine jumps out of him at the final two fences - the 'mooneen', and both times he got lengths and that was the whole difference,. The second horse put in a huge performance to make the running and we just beat him and if the second jumped the last two as well as we did it would have been a different result but we were lucky enough on the day. Being Annette Mee's horse, a lot of his year revolves around Galway and he'd have to improve a lot to get into the Plate next year. That will be his target next year if he goes up in the weights.

Peregrine Run This race was never the plan - the plan was to go to Leopardstown (for a flat maiden) but they changed the rules for the Amateur Handicap at Galway and now a horse has to have run three times on the flat to qualify, so I said I'd stick him into this race and see. It worked out a great opportunity and he was in great form. He has been plenty busy but he is taking his races so well. He is loving it and will now go straight to Galway. He'll be entered in the Plate and the 3m hurdle on the Saturday. We'll see what happens and hopefully he comes out of this race well. I'd love to win a flat maiden with him this year as his easiest options over jumps are now all gone.

Peregrine Run He’s an unbelievable horse for the yard. Full credit to everyone at home for keeping him sound and right. He runs on hard ground day in and day out, and he’s just a sounder and happier horse this year. He might be entered in the Galway Plate, and if the ground is quick he could go there. He’s in at Leopardstown next Thursday and I’ll see how he is. I’d love to run him on the Flat as it could give us an option for Galway. If he happened to win it could give him a nice mark for the amateur handicap. Our best chance of good ground in Galway is probably the first few days. He has a nice mark over hurdles and there could be a nice day in him over hurdles if everything goes well and he stays healthy.

Royal Illusion King's Theatre mares, they're not making them any more unfortunately!. I think the ground was plenty quick for her and I was doing my best not to get her off the bridle for as long as I could. She travelled very well but didn't let down on the ground and I wouldn't be afraid to come back in trip. More give in the ground would also see her in a better light. She has Listed-placed black-type in bumpers and it would be great to get it on the flat too. I'm sure she'd also jump a hurdle in time too as she has schooled. Softer ground is what she needs.

Peregrine Run He’s some horse to have in the yard and there are plenty more in the family coming along. There is a conditions hurdle in a few weeks’ time that he could go for. I doubt if he’ll go for a Galway Plate with a mark of 157. If Listowel came up quick he could go there for the Kerry National. There is a handicap hurdle at Galway that he might go for as he’s got a mark of 139. Unless it rains he’ll stay going as his races take nothing out of him. He’s very ground dependent and even today his jumping wasn’t as quick as it was in the handicap. I’d love to get a handicap mark for him on the Flat.

Peregrine Run I honestly thought coming here that he was in better form than he was going to Killarney and I couldn’t believe the price (14/1) he was. It’s great for Kevin and he gave him a great ride. He’s a lovely horse and the quick ground here today really suited him. He minds himself and just barely puts his head in front. I don’t know what he’ll go for. There is a conditions race in Punchestown in a couple of weeks, and I have entered him on the Flat in Listowel. He’ll be busy over the summer as he takes his racing well on the good ground. I’d love to have a handicap mark with him on the Flat and go for some of the nice handicaps with him because he doesn’t lack a bit of toe. I’d love to say he’d go for the Plate but the ground often ends up being too soft for him at Galway. The few times he ran there he ran bad. If I thought the ground was going to be quick I’d love to go there but I doubt it. He’s some horse to have and I got some buzz out of that win today.

Peregrine Run It's great for Kevin as he has had issues and is back working with me for three or four weeks. He has his head down now and fingers crossed he can go on from here and get back to where he was a couple of years ago. He is a great rider and hopefully every thing goes right for him now. He will be a big asset for the yard,. He had an operation on his wrist at Christmas and today was his first day back; he was going to start back on Saturday and I said to leave it to today as I had Peregrine and Room To Roam (in the opener). Also a big thanks must go to the owners for giving Kevin the spin.
