Cahirdown Boy He wanted a bit of better ground; I ran him at Limerick and the ground was terrible and it was a mistake to run him - it's a mistake I won't make again with him. Today was the best he has jumped and he has been improving a bit. The nicer ground and the step up in trip helped and I think he could keep going for the summer.

Kilfenora He is a smart horse. This is his game and he is going to be hitting a rating of 150 now but I'm going to enjoy two Graded successes with him. Not many horses achieve that in a lifetime and we'll worry about a plan when Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) gets back,. The ground might scupper Leopardstown for him and we might have to look for a Grade 2 or 3 race if we have to go that route because he'll be limited enough with the handicaps he can go for. He won't be going back over fences any time soon as if you can do one thing well, stay doing it. His jumping was very slick today.

Countess Cathleen it was an ordinary chase but she won well. She's been a bit unlucky as she didn't get her ground last year. That was really her problem and she loved that there today. She won a hurdle race at Clonmel a couple of years ago on heavy ground and hasn't really had it since. Hopefully she'll keep going. Sean is riding with great confidence at the moment.

Longhouse Poet He looks to be a nice horse. Hopefully we'll find out a bit more when he steps into something else. I haven't anything planned and we might look at a graded race in the New Year. We'll probably make an entry anyway in the Grade 1 at Naas and that would be an ideal place as well. Derek seemed to be quite impressed with him anyway. He's never got beaten on him as he won his point-to-point and his bumper on him. He's a horse to look forward to. Maybe we'll have better days but we won't know that until we delve into that area. It's nice to have a horse like him anyway.

Kilfenora last year was a mess and he’s (Kilfenora) a far better horses over hurdles than he is chasing and we sent him back hurdling and he ran a blinder at Punchestown (in May). This was the first decent staying hurdle to target and thankfully he’s done it. He’ll go further and the Pertemps (Hurdle at Cheltenham in March) is an obvious long term target for him.

Tintangle She is a good mare but has a lot of quirks. We didn't want to make the running but there was nobody to make the running and you could see jumping off she didn't want to be in front,. She has an engine but she would be better with a lead and hopefully in better races there will be something to make it. In fairness to her she tried to run out but still winged it. It's not the jumping that's the problem it's the in between. I thought she was gone at the last.

Arizengo We had him in the spring time when Harry Smyth sent him to us and I bought him off Harry this year for his current owners,. He made bad mistake the last day at Galway when he twisted his back and the physio has done great work on him. We were genuinely disappointed with him at Galway as he travelled so well but after the bad mistake it was curtains. He had been working extremely well recently and the boys all took the 100/1 this morning, and I include myself in that! I backed him each-way. representing

Flooring Porter the step up in trip and the tongue-tie helped him and he was good. Johnny (Moore) said he was just a bit ignorant at those (padded) hurdles but he got around and there's a race for him at Navan in a few weeks. He is improving and while he didn't jump well early, he came into it well and got it done so all good.

Tintangle She was entitled to do that on hurdles ratings,. Jack said she had a bit of a blow and the ground is probably riding slower than they are calling it. It's beautiful ground and a nice way for her to start off. He said she wasn't doing a stroke in front. Ideally he didn't want to get to the front that soon but she winged the third last and he had to let her go. She's a bit of a madam but fences might be the making of her. We rocked on over fences because she got black-type over hurdles and she won a Listed bumper. She'd be a valuable broodmare if she could get it over fences as well.
