Longhouse Poet He’s a horse that we always thought would need a trip and he handles the ground. He had the experience from his few runs over fences and he was fit. I don’t like seeing horses getting beaten three or four times in a row. It’s nice to get their head in front and it can change their whole approach to things. He’s not a Grade 1 horse so we may look at novice handicaps in the spring over an extended trip.

Uisce Beatha He was working well at home and we thought he'd run a nice race,. Simon gave him a great ride and I'd say he stays well looking at that, he came home well. He's a nice horse to have and I'm delighted. I have him since the summer when he came back from his break. It's great to get a winner here at Christmas.

West Cork Wildway I shouldn't have run him the last day in Mallow as the ground was too good for him but you live and learn and it was nice to get another win up before Christmas,. The trip is a small bit short for him but once they have ability they'll always show it. He is versatile and stays three miles and is a lovely horse for the lads and is improving. He is not the biggest horse but is unbelievable to jump and I'll be looking forward to him when he jumps a fence. When he goes over fences you'll see the real deal.

Mount Ida she stayed at it well. I felt if she showed up in the same form as the last day, with a good round of jumping, and go forward a bit earlier, she was bound to be competitive. She possibly came forward from her run the last day and that run the last day wasn't a bad race. It is lovely to win the race and get the black-type all in one. It's great to get a winner for Gordon.

Conflated He’s not a bad horse and ran well in a few graded races last year. He has to go left-handed. He ran well behind Asterion Forlonge at Punchestown when you look at how much ground he gave away by jumping left.

Flooring Porter It wasn’t the plan to make the running. He has his own ideas about things and can force his way to the front. In fairness he relaxed lovely when he got there and jumped away brilliant. He got a freebie, got to fill him up everywhere and was able to do his own thing from the front. He won too far from a handicapping point of view but it’s great to win a pot like that. He’s definitely better going left-handed as well. The handicapper is going to have his say now. I don’t know where he’ll go from here but considering he only cost five grand he’s more than paid for himself!. He will go chasing but probably not until next year.

Tucanae We took a chance and went for this instead of the mares race which looked good. Her 7lb allowance cancelled out her 7lb penalty for winning a bumper and thankfully it’s worked out,. She had a mark of 115 and hopefully we can go for a handicap. We made a mistake running her over 2m6f in Punchestown as she didn’t get home. We dropped her right back and hopefully she’ll keep improving.

Wheres Maud Gone She has done everything right at home and was just ready to start. That's her first gallop on grass but we were expecting a good run and we fancied her well. She is a good filly. She was actually entered in a point to point last weekend but she was showing so much pace we said we'd come here. She'll be sold now.

Heaven Help Us I'm over the moon, absolutely thrilled. It was a very good race as the two other mares in it were black-type mares as well. David said she jumped great in company. Obviously the race in Sligo brought her forward. It's just magic. I've one horse, that's her, and where she's been bringing us is just incredible. We ended up in the Grade 1 last year by accident. I was looking for something to do, just entered her in it and hey presto she finished second!. We had a great time and her run in the Supreme at Cheltenham was good. She met a lot of trouble but ran well. She's a wonderful mare and she's very easy to do. I've given most of my life to the dogs and this is a great release. I'm still busy with the dogs but not at the level we used to be as I haven't pushed it as much as we used to. I said to John Turner there that we'll have great sport now. We can enter her into all the big fancy races now that she's won her maiden chase. We got such a buzz last year and John lets me do that kind of thing. When you line up in those good races your knees are knocking and it's wonderful. She's just amazing and I think she can improve again.
