FormscanBy Donal Murphy - Nostra Casa has won three times from six starts since joining Paul Flynn, beating a subsequent winner (Bay Of Sanibel) into second when successful at Navan on his latest start. The Moyglare cast off is sure to have plenty of supporters in this competitive heat, with fellow Navan victor Boher Road another leading hope for the in-form Jarlath Fahey yard. For a selection, the Willie Mullins-trained HIGHWIND gets the nod. No worse than third in five outings on the level in France and successful at Deauville, the Zarak bay was again victorious on his debut for current connections over flights at Punchestown in January. Highly tried since, the four-year-old will appreciate this drop in class and with Colin Keane aboard, he should go close. Course and distance winner Almuhit, The Banger Doyle and Dunvegan, who is better known for his exploits over fences, are others for the shortlist.
An extended handicap for four years old and upwards (90 = 10st)Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.

Quotes on Boher Road (IRE)
He sees out 1m5f, he sees out 2m. He has won over 2m1f over hurdles. He is a horse that likes to get his own way - he dictates to the jockey instead of the jockey to him. We just play along with him. He was running a cracker the last day (in Fairyhouse) until he decided to do what he did. I don't know what got into his head - he has a tendency to jump a bit right, but that was just completely out of character for him. He enjoyed that today and it is his second win on the track, so he obviously likes it. Ronan said that trip is fine and the way he finished out you wouldn't object to running him over two mile on the Flat either. He's a little bit hit or miss, but he is a very good horse. After Boher Road (IRE) finished 1st at Navan on Sat, 27th Apr 2024 1m 5f Flat Hcap Good to Yielding

Quotes on Last Ammo (IRE)
It's terrific. It's great for the lads (Rock Bar Syndicate) who are great local supporters of mine. This is massive and it's huge for all of us to be honest. I'm very grateful for the support. We felt we should come to Galway as that's what a syndicate horse is all about and there was an element of a social runner with him. I got it completely wrong with this fella as I thought he wanted very fast ground. I didn't expect him to handle the ground but obviously I'm wrong and he probably wants a bit of juice in it. It's a much improved performance and Jack's 7lb is huge. He gave him a beautiful ride all the way, never got checked at any stage. We have great luck together, Jack and myself. After Last Ammo (IRE) finished 1st at Galway on Wed, 2nd Aug 2023 2m Flat Hcap Yielding

Quotes on Nostra Casa (IRE)
Dylan just said that he didn't help him because he doesn't like being boxed in and obviously with the draw, it was hard to get out. He probably likes a bit heavier ground. The boys like Galway and we will try and get into Galway this year, we missed it with a cut last year. He won in Thurles last year over two miles, so we have the option of the two-mile race in Galway. We'd love to get into the amateur race in Galway, but I think Dylan wants to keep him below and go another way!. The next race coming up is probably Killarney. There's a valuable race in Hamilton and I might go over there. After Nostra Casa (IRE) finished 1st at Navan on Sat, 27th Apr 2024 1m 5f Flat Hcap Good to Yielding

Quotes on The Tide Turns (GB)
he's a grand horse. I thought he was professional, he jumped well and did everything right. Jack said he was probably in front plenty soon enough but you'd like the way he ran. He'll be a nice fun horse and he's a horse that will mix it between the Flat and hurdles all summer. He'll go on any ground, he won on the all-weather so I'd imagine he'll go on good ground. After The Tide Turns (GB) finished 1st at Punchestown on Mon, 17th Jan 2022 2m Maiden Hurdle Soft

Quotes on The Banger Doyle (IRE)
He is named a friend of mine who 'slipped' all the greyhounds at the coursing in Clonmel and was a great character. I had many's a good night with him and when he passed away a couple of years ago, I asked his wife could I call a horse after him. I love naming my horses after characters I've met and my winner yesterday Pat Coyne (at Tramore) is named after a man from Galway. The Banger Doyle was a very promising bumper horse and this is his game. That win now gives us options on good ground for the summer and we'll potter around with him in novice chases for the summer. He was bold and brave to jump but it wasn't good for the heart over the last two. After The Banger Doyle (IRE) finished 1st at Tipperary on Tue, 18th Apr 2023 2m 1f Chase Yielding

Quotes on Dunvegan (FR)
When I saw him jumping the second last I started to enjoy it. It was straightforward, before Christmas he was bouncing but then he just went a little bit short. We worked on him and he showed today that he wasn't feeling anything. It's unbelievable now but you'd be nervous going into these races. Bryan said to himself that he'd just back off enough but keep the pressure on and he gave him a brilliant ride. We always thought a lot of him. He won two bumpers and beat a lot of winners in Punchestown, then he was so impressive when he won his maiden hurdle here. He kind of went backwards on us and he always looked like a three-mile chaser but this seems to be his trip. He ran in the Thyestes last year and didn't get the trip on the heavy ground. He went plenty far in it, enjoyed it and jumped out of it but just couldn't stay going. Thankfully we pulled him back in trip and let him rock. That's a prestigious race, I'd always been looking at these races at one time and you wouldn't think you'd ever win them. I was absolutely thrilled with Castlegrace Paddy. Davy (Russell) was delighted with him, he ran some race because that would be his first proper gallop. It was a beautiful run and I couldn't be happier. We have Dunvegan in the Queen Mother, I know you are really jumping up in class but he's done us no harm so we'll see. There is also the Dublin Racing festival, we'll move on with him now and give him the chance to compete against the big ones over the shorter trips.
