Gan Teorainn a welcome tonic for Bolger at Naas
Denmark overcomes greenness to make winning debut
We're delighted with him. He's a big baby still, obviously, as you can see,. He just spooked at the road, he was just very green and babyish but I'd say he's a lovely horse. He's a fine big fella. We'll go gently with him and give him a little bit of time now. We couldn't be happier with him.
Sale strikes on handicap debut
He's a nice little horse, he's straightforward, tough and genuine,. We thought he would run well and we're delighted. The syndicate are all local to the yard and it's lovely for them to have a winner, they're delighted. Hopefully he can improve off that and we'll see what the handicapper does. We would love to come back here later in the year for the Birdcatcher. We'll keep an eye on the ground, he wouldn't want extremes. Wayne said he'd have no bother over five or six.
Voce Del Palio springs 28-1 Ballyhane surprise under McDonagh
He's been a good horse and I thought his price was a bit disrespectful to him,. Declan gave him a lovely ride and he handled the drop back to six really well. He's a solid horse, he was just dropping in trip which we weren't sure about but he obviously handled it well. He was always going to get it well and was dropping back from group company. He's in at Tipperary on Friday but I'd say we'll probably go to the Curragh for the Sportsman race, the sales race. This is a huge pot and it's fantastic. The race is very well supported every year with such a big field and is always a very strong race. State Of Rest was fourth in it a couple of years ago. Everyone always runs the horses that are qualified. It's a fantastic race and credit to Ballyhane, the EBF and everyone who puts the money into it. I was sixth in it as well (with Montesilvano) and I'd say he's a stakes horse. There is no doubt the second is a stakes filly and you need a stakes horse to even be placed in it.
Rosetta proves hardy to land fillies handicap
She was good and hardy. When I saw Gary heading over to the other side I said .where's he going?' . He did his homework and said there was virgin ground over there and that's where he headed over. He's won three on her now and definitely has the key because a few lads have had goes on her, she's ran plenty. She's gotten really consistent now. When we got her off Ger Lyons his brother Shane was adamant once we got her wind done and she got a bit of confidence she'd be grand. When we got her wind done there was no improvement for a while but it was just a case she just needed to get confidence and realise she couldn't flip her palate. She's paid for herself now.
Showmolina another winner for in-form Johnny Levins
That was deadly, Joey seems to be getting on really well with him. Thankfully the owners have been very patient, and the trainer has been very patient,. The jockeys are always complimentary when they do ride him, even though he has been jumping very slow and leaving a few races behind. They were adamant and confident when the penny drops he has plenty of class. Hopefully he can step out of that grade now. Sometimes horses can get stuck in that grade finishing third and fourth, you don't really see their true potential. Hopefully he can go on further now and pick up a few more prizes. He should come into his own at this time of year with the change in the ground. I'm delighted for all the owners, they are all from the north and all came down today. They obviously knew more than me, they must have fancied him and they came in droves today.
Kodiac Prince grinds it out to win Naas finale for Cleary family
That was nice. We were a bit disappointed with the run in Galway but he got hampered at the wrong time there when a horse bumped into him at the bottom of the hill,. Luckily enough I had him declared for here and we were very happy with him the next morning when we gave him a bit of a canter. He was very well in himself and we were very happy to come here with him. He's entered for Tipperary on Friday and if we get a bit of cut in the ground and everything is okay we might go there. We've been looking for a cut in the ground all year. The last few times he ran well, finishing fourth, he continued to be dropped a few pounds. Unless it's a three-year-old it is hard to get a horse rated between 65 and 73 into races. We've been struggling to get into a race with him.
